What is the new NSW battery incentive?
From 1 September 2026, new activities under the NSW Government's Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) support eligible behind-the-meter battery installations at non-residential sites — from small and medium businesses up to larger commercial and industrial sites. The incentive amount depends on your system size, site and the scheme requirements current at the time you install. This information is general and indicative only.
Is my business eligible?
Eligibility depends on your site, meter configuration and system size. As a general guide, the scheme covers usable battery capacity from over 20 kWh up to 30 MWh at eligible non-residential sites, with a minimum customer contribution applying to smaller systems. We check your specific site against the current criteria as part of your free eligibility check — there is no cost or obligation to find out.
Do you service businesses in Albury?
Yes — Albury is part of our NSW service area. No travel surcharge for local site visits.
Does adding new solar increase the incentive?
A higher incentive calculation may apply when a battery is installed within 90 days of qualifying new solar. A lower calculation may still apply to eligible battery-only installations. We will model both options for your site as part of your eligibility check.
What happens on 1 September 2026?
The new BESS4 and BESS5 activities open for applications on 1 September 2026. We recommend getting your eligibility check done now so your project is ready to go as soon as the scheme opens — incentive availability and rates can change over time.
