About Sungrow

World's #1 Inverter Manufacturer

Founded in 1997, Sungrow is the world's largest inverter manufacturer — supplying solar systems across 170 countries with over 340 GW of power electronics installed globally. That engineering depth is now inside their residential battery range.

The SBR (Scalable Battery Range) launched as their flagship home storage product, using the same LFP cell chemistry trusted in grid-scale storage. With Australian offices and local warranty support, Sungrow is one of our most-recommended brands for reliability and long-term support.

Why the SBR Stands Out

Modular by design

9.6 kWh modules stack to 100 kWh — add capacity later without replacing the system.

100% depth of discharge

Use every kWh you paid for — no reserved buffer that other batteries hide from you.

Integrated blackout backup

Seamless switchover during grid outages when paired with a Sungrow hybrid inverter.

LFP chemistry

Lithium Iron Phosphate is the safest, most thermally stable battery chemistry — no thermal runaway risk.

What to Expect From Our Installation

  • Compatibility assessment first — We check your switchboard, existing inverter, and grid connection before quoting — no surprises on the day
  • Sized to your actual usage — We pull your consumption data and size the module count to match your evening load, not a generic recommendation
  • Blackout circuit wired and tested — We configure and verify the backup circuit before leaving — you'll know exactly which loads are protected
  • Licensed, insured, AS/NZS 5139 compliant — All battery work completed under our Electrical Contractor Licence by SAA-accredited Clean Energy Council installers
  • Monitoring commissioned on site — We set up iSolarCloud on your phone so you can track energy flow, battery state, and savings from day one

Sungrow SBR FAQs

Can the Sungrow SBR be added to my existing solar system?
The SBR battery requires a compatible Sungrow hybrid inverter. If you already have a Sungrow hybrid, adding the SBR is straightforward. If not, we'll assess your existing setup and provide options — in many cases a hybrid inverter upgrade alongside the battery makes financial sense.
What does 9.6 kWh actually cover for a home?
A single 9.6 kWh SBR module typically covers 4–6 hours of average evening household load. Most Melbourne families opt for one or two modules to shift most of their solar generation to after-sunset use and reduce grid draw during peak tariff hours.
Will the Sungrow SBR keep my power on during a blackout?
Yes — when paired with a Sungrow hybrid inverter, the SBR provides seamless backup power to your home during grid outages. We configure and test the backup circuit during installation so you know exactly which loads are protected.
Is the Sungrow SBR eligible for the federal battery rebate?
Sungrow batteries are eligible under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) and, in Victoria, the Solar Homes Program battery rebate. Rebate amounts change — contact us for the current figures at the time of your quote.
How long does installation take?
A standard SBR installation takes one day. We handle all network notification paperwork, commissioning, and set up iSolarCloud monitoring before we leave.
Why choose Sungrow?
Sungrow is the world's largest inverter manufacturer by volume and has been supplying Australian installers for over 15 years. The SBR uses the same LFP chemistry as top-tier batteries at a competitive price point — making it our most-installed residential battery.
